Lake Koshkonong, Wisconsin
Sleeper Ice House Rental
*Sorry, we are not taking reservations for the 2019-2020 ice fishing season

Lake Koshkonong is located a short drive southeast of Madison and a two-hour drive from downtown Chicago.  Jim Furley has been fishing Lake Koshkonong since a small child. He's been catching walleyes and northern pike safely through the ice on the big lake for almost 50 years!  Starting this season, Furley Outdoors is renting Jim's personal "sleeper" ice house to responsible adults.  The small but functional (6.5 foot x 10.5 foot) shack sleeps two to three average-sized anglers.

The insulated ice house is designed for the tip-up angler. The house has real glass windows so you can sit inside out of the wind and watch for "flags" through the four large windows. There are no holes in the floor. Most anglers target walleye and northern pike using tip-ups and live bait on this popular, shallow lake.

Furley Outdoors provides a clean, cost-efficient, unguided rental.  The shack is placed in a safe location and is not moved during your stay.  Over the years we've learned tips and tricks to catching fish and we're happy to share that knowledge with our guests.  Furley Outdoors will be out to the ice house (usually before you arrive) to turn on the heat and make sure everything in the shack is in order.  If you don't own ice fishing equipment and prefer a full-service licensed fishing guide to furnish gear and fish with you at additional cost,  let us know, and we'll hook you up with our friends at Pike Pole Fishing Guide Service. Let's set up a trip that works for you!

2017 unguided over night rates: Rather than give a discount only to well-deserving groups, we've decided to discount everyone! The  over night rate is only $60.00 per person, per night, plus sales tax.  We have a 2-person (or $120.00) per night minimum charge.  Over night rentals are available 7 nights per week and are generally from 11 a.m. to 9 a.m. (22 hours). A $60.00 credit card deposit holds your reservation. Balance due at arrival (guests who join you later must be paid in advance and provide their own transportation to shack).  Furley Outdoors accepts cash or credit cards only.

Unguided daytime rentals: Day rentals are available on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday only.  11:00 a.m. until dark. $40.00 per person plus tax. There is a minimum charge of three (3) anglers or $120.00.

Rules: The first rule is have a good time! But please be aware that due to insurance regulations and for our comfort and yours,  there is No Cooking and No Smoking allowed inside the ice house. Potty breaks and fish cleaning are done 'outside' as well. Pets are not allowed inside.  Please leave pets at home.

Directions: The ice house is located on Lake Koshkonong, west of Fort Atkinson.  Furley Outdoors will meet you at the appropriate landing at 11:00 a.m. Further details will be given at time of booking. Here is a link to a Google map of Fort Atkinson and Lake Koshkonong: goo.gl/maps/4Nk58jmhwf42

*Furley Outdoors recommends anglers bring "ice cleats" for their boots when there is a lack of snow cover on the ice and  be aware that "hole covers" are useful to keep holes from freezing shut when temperatures dip below 32 degrees.  An "insulated" minnow bucket will help keep your live bait "alive" during frigid temperatures as well.

* Bait Shops/Fishing License:  There are several quality bait shops around and near Lake Koshkonong that sell live bait. The closest full-service bait shop to our ice house is Rock River Bait Box on the east edge of Fort Atkinson (N2290 Rock River Road, phone 920-691-2602).  If possible, we recommend that you buy your Wisconsin fishing license ahead of time, online.
